Abstract

Purpose: Identify clinical and epidemiological skills in West Syndrome from Lima-Perú

Methods: It is an observational medical research, “case series” in Lima.

Result: Ninety-eight patients with West Syndrome from different medical centers were included, mainly from the north and center of Lima. The onset age was 5.6 month (±4) and the more frequent pathologies were CNS malformations, ischemic brain injury and Tuberous Sclerosis. Ten patients received ACTH as treatment and the principal antiepileptic drug was valproic acid.

Conclusions: West syndrome is highly prevalent. The average age at onset was 5.6 months and the most frequent causes were secondary type.
