Community acquired pneumonia can be defined cli- nically as the presence of signs and symptoms of pneumonia in a previously healthy child due to an infection which has been acquired outside hospital. Round Pneumonia is characterized with spherical consolidation on chest radiograph and usually con- fused whit pulmonary mass. Round pneumonia is usually seen in children, and it is often caused by bacterial infection. The diagnosis of round pneumo- nia is based on chest radiograph and clinical fin- dings, and is treated with antibiotics and supportive therapy.
We report a 5 year old boy, who was admitted to Suarez-Angamos hospital with a history of vomi- ting, abdominal pain, fever and sporadic cough, and round opacity on chest radiograph found in the left mid zone.
