By the D-TGA (transposition of the great arteries ); correction was made for the first time by the Dr. Adib D Jatene, in Brasil, more than 27 years; this operation seemed a simple solution for a very difficult problem. Although conceptually very simple-the aorta is connected to the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery to the left ventricle - it is one of the problems most challenging of the neonatal cardiology. But with a very high mortality in the first years, as experience was gained perioperative managment and some modifications were introduced to make the arterial reconexión and the translocación of the coronary ostium; today in most of centers the operative mortality has diminished and the long term results are very satisfactory.
We present the case of a newborn, with D-TGA, as part of our initial experience in the multidisciplinary managment of this condition, with surgical outcome (Jatene technique) successful.
