Types of Foreskin Retraction in Children in Hospital Belen of Trujillo, Perú

Introduction: The foreskin is the part of the skin covering the glans. At birth, the male newborn has a narrow, adherent and long foreskin, with narrow tip exceeds the distal end of the glans.
Objectives: Determine the types of foreskin retraction according to in children under 15 years.
Methods: It was performed a clinical examination of 360 children divided into 9 groups of 40 each. Children were treated at the Department of Pediatrics in Hospital Belen in Trujillo. The degree of retraction foreskin was evaluated using the classification ok Kayaba, by age group.
Results: They show that foreskin retraction types I and II are more common in newborns (45% and 52.5%) and children younger than 6 months (35% and 32.5%), type V does not exist in children under 6 months (0% in both groups). In children between 11 and 15 years, type V predominates (75%) and are not the types I and II (0%).
Conclusions: The older increases to retract the foreskin. Foreskin retraction types I and II predominate in newborn and children under 1 year old and types IV and V in children between 11 and 15 years old.
