Abstract

Objective: To describe the experience in the timely management of a neonate patient with acute appendicitis in the Ayacucho ́s Regional Hospital.

Material and methods: Retrospective study, with evaluation of the patient's medical history.

Results: Patient premature newborn, with abdominal distension and radiological signs of obstruction. A laparotomy is performed and an appendectomy. No association was found with another disease.

Conclusions: Acute neonatal appendicitis is a rare condition, with early diagnosis and timely surgical treatment you can have a good prognosis.
