Lonomiasis: a case report and literature review

In the last decades, accidents by Lepidoptera (specially Lonomia sp) are gaining importance because its high mortality and its geographical expansion. For this reason, we present a clinical case of a 10 year old male, transferred “Huanuco Hospital”. His clinical symptoms was: skin rash, hemarthrosis, gastrointestinal bleeding, hemothorax, hemopericardio. He had prolonged clotting times and decreased fibrinogen, with hemodynamic and ventilatory compromise. The diagnosis was established by anamnesis, clinical manifestations and laboratory reports. The timely and appropriate treatment determined patient survival.
