Objective: To determine the percentage of asthmatics who come to the emergency HSB, how many are hospitalized and what percentage of these require admission to PICU (pediatric intensive care unit) Methodology: Study Type: Descriptive, retrospective, Transversal. Population and sample: Paediatric patients presenting with acute asthrna who comes to San Bartholome Hospital emergency. Results: Total attention during 2013 in HSB EMG was 21140, of which the percentage of asthmatics who carne to represent the 4.34% addressed. Of the total of asthmatic population treated in the emergency service HSB, 24.3% were hospitalized. The percentage of asthmatic patients hospitalized 1.3% required to enter Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, these 5 were required invasive mechanical ventilation and 3 non-invasive ventilation (CPAP).
