La historia de la pediatría en el Perú está íntimamente ligada al desarrollo de su enseñanza, como disciplina independiente, en la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos y al de los servicios especializados de atención al niño, en los diferentes centros asistenciales, cuya expresión cumbre fue la inauguración y puesta en funcionamiento del Hospital del Niño de Lima.
