Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor has it been simultaneously submitted to another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs or DOI for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced in a 12-point Arial font.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author's Guidelines.
  • All illustrations, figures or tables are described at the end (number, title, legend, source, etc.), and are attached as separate files.

Author Guidelines

The Peruvian Journal of Pediatrics publishes articles aimed at physicians, paediatricians, and people interested in research to improve the quality of preventive health care and care for children in low- and middle-income countries. The Peruvian Journal of Pediatrics accepts and publishes articles in English and Spanish.

 

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS (September 2023)

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • The submission must not have been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal for consideration.
  • The file must be in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document format.
  • The text will be single-spaced in a 12-point Arial font.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements in the Guidelines for Authors.
  • All illustrations, figures or tables should be described at the end of the manuscript in a text indicating the number, title, legends, source, or other information), and are attached as separate files.
  • The URLs of the available references or DOIs must be provided.
  • All submissions must present a first page, the abstract | abstract, and a main messages section, with specific instructions described below.

 

SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE FIRST PAGE

The first page includes:

  1. Title (maximum 20 words)
  2. Short title (maximum 8 words)
  3. Author Identification: Format, Affiliation, and Contributions
  4. Funding Source
  5. Conflict of interest statement
  6. Acknowledgements (optional): any detailed contribution should be stated, and specific persons or entities must authorize mention.
  7. Corresponding author: Names and email

 

  • Author identification format

           Author:  Carlos Alberto Delgado; Citation: Delgado CA; ORCID-ID: 0000-0002-6073-8109

  • Affiliation: Include up to one academic and one institutional affiliation per author.
  • Contribution of the authors: Include a paragraph mentioning the authors' contribution according to the roles described in the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT).

 

 

SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE ABSTRACT

 

It will include a version in Spanish and another in English.

Articles and reviews will be presented as a structured abstract, including an introduction, objectives, methods, results and conclusions. The summaries of the clinical cases include, in an unstructured way, the description of the clinical case and its scientific or academic relevance. Other sections do not require a structured abstract.

Keywords: from three to five. In Spanish according to the DeCS descriptor and in English according to the MeSH descriptor.

 

SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAIN MESSAGES

A section of three main messages will be written using appropriate terms for scientific dissemination to the general public, with 40 words each (Maximum total = 120 words). The first message will explain the reasons for conducting the study. The second message will summarize the main results found. The third message will describe the scientific or academic relevance and possible implications for children's health.

If artificial intelligence technologies have been used to write any study component, please write an additional paragraph specifying the parts written with this technology and the reasons for using it.

 

The characteristics of the articles, reviews and clinical cases will be presented according to the specific instructions mentioned below.

The author will be guided by international guidelines to write and publish clinical cases such as the CARE guidelines.

Tables and figures: The tables will be created in MS Word using table insertion. The photographs or figures require a resolution greater than or equal to 300 dpi, anonymizing the images to protect the participants' privacy and specify their consent.

 

References: they will be written in Vancouver style. The text of the article will be sent to the journal without macros or links to reference management programs.

 

ETHICAL ASPECTS: The published research will respect the ethical principles, recording the corresponding information in a methodology paragraph. In the original articles and the case reports, the consents, assents, the appropriate permissions or the approval of an ethics committee will be documented. The Editorial Committee may request the records relevant to the process. The responsibility for plagiarism lies with the article's authors, if applicable.
